Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) was the first company to offer pet insurance in 1982. VPI is the largest and most popular provider of pet health insurance in the United States with an estimated 200,000 current policies. VPI plans cover exotic pets for veterinary medical problems and conditions relating to accidents, illnesses and injuries.

Pet Care Enrollment - pets from 6 weeks of age, up to 10+ years of age.

Veterinary Pet Insurance Covers - Illnesses like cancer, neutering and spaying and unplanned medical problems. Optional pet vaccination and routine care coverage is also available.

VPI Doesn't Cover - Hereditary or breed specific diseases like hip/elbow dysplasia, Patellar Luxation (slipping of the kneecaps), Osteochonodrosis Dessicans (bone chips), Von Willebrad's Disease (blood disorder), Liver Shunt, Entropian (or any eyelash/lid problems), Wobbler's Disease (a bleeding disorder), etc.

Monthly Premium for Pet Insurance - Pet Medical Insurance rates range from approximately $10 to $33 depending on species and age. For senior pets over 10 years owners must call 1-800-872-7387 for rates.
